Battery Capacity

Battery energy is commonly expressed in kilowatt-hours (kWh). A rating in ampere-hours (Ah) needs the associated voltage before it can be compared as energy.

How to use the term

For a simplified nominal comparison, voltage multiplied by ampere-hours and divided by 1,000 gives kWh. Usable AC energy will be lower when operating limits and conversion losses are included.

What to check before choosing

Compare nominal and usable energy, permitted discharge power, temperature limits and system compatibility. A battery module is not automatically a complete storage system.
